Bribie Island locals Richard Beukema and Kieren Christensen have donated over $600 worth of gifts to Community Christmas Lunch, bringing a smile to the faces of 70 disadvantaged kids from across the Moreton Bay region that will now have a Christmas present to open.
Each year the Community Christmas Lunch spreads Christmas cheer throughout Moreton Bay region and welcomes over 350 disadvantaged or lonely people to spend Christmas with friends and enjoy a traditional Christmas lunch with all the trimmings.
A highlight for the youngest guests each year is receiving a gift from Santa. And thanks to Richard and Kieren’s generosity, each child will unwrap their very own gift on Christmas day.
Richard and Kieren are excited to spread some holiday cheer to the children in the community that need it most.
“This year I wanted to give back to those that really needed it and I thought that the Community Christmas Lunch was a great idea and wanted to help out,” Richard explained.
Richard has recently been diagnosed with bowel cancer and has been given just 12 months to live.
“This is my way of giving back to the community that I love,” Richard said.
Community Christmas Lunch is an annual event organised by Our Village Foundation and the Redcliffe Uniting Church. Guests receive a free two course meal provided by Eatons Hill Hotel, lots of entertainment and a visit from Santa!
